Monica Zinda

Artist's Statement

Monica Zinda received her Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Specializing in printmaking and sculpture, she also studied museum connoisseurship, leading to employment in the corporate and commercial fine art field.

After settling in California and managing the Walton-Gilbert Gallery in San Francisco for several years, Monica decided that a more hands-on approach to her art was needed. In 1992, she began her training in tile and mosaic technique. By 1995, Monica Zinda was a licensed tile contractor and began receiving her first mosaic commissions. As a tile contractor with a Fine Art degree, she quickly found her niche. Through a mastery of materials, and the study of ancient and modern techniques, Monica has been able to rise to the challenge – satisfying clients throughout San Francisco, the Greater Bay Area and northern California. Her commissions extend from an Islamic mosque to playground sculpture to many private residences. Working primarily in the private sector, her work has evolved from Monzaic Designs, her contracting company, to Moonshinemosaics.com, her mosaic workshop.

Monica Zinda's current project entails expanding into her new 2000 sq.ft. mosaic studio at 93 Main St. in the town of Weed, Ca. This site will enable her to take commissions of any size and complexity.

The best is yet to come.
