Woman to Woman Art GroupIn 1996 several women artists from rural Siskiyou County decided to form a support group for other women artists. The need became obvious as artists from around the county eagerly joined. Eventually the group was named Woman to Woman.
Today this organization represents a diverse group of artists, whose primary goals are providing inspiration, support, training and the opportunity to exhibit for all its members. These goals and more are fulfilled by offering workshops, group dialogues and demonstrations that further learning and augment each artists individual creative process. While some members are fledgling artists, others have won awards, grants, held solo exhibitions and exhibited nationally. This diversity is held as an asset for growth by Woman to Woman. The artwork created by the group is in a variety of media; from two dimensional in oil, acrylic, watercolor, encaustic, pencil, pastels and collage to three dimensional use of clay, glass, metal, wood and mixed media. In addition to this wide list of materials, various styles within the group range from abstraction to the realistic.
The Woman to Woman
group produces a
minimum of two theme
shows a year. A theme is
chosen so that the art will integrate the group's innate diversity. These shows have been well received in local and outlying community venues. Woman to Woman also works closely with the Siskiyou Arts Council and other art associations as both advocate and participant.Woman to Woman has proven to be an innovative, strong and supportive voice for its artists and the Arts in Siskiyou County. Its long duration and continual evolution are testimony to a shared strength of purpose and each artist's commitment to her creativity.
