Siskiyou Artists Association, Inc.Siskiyou Artists Association is a group of diversified artists at all levels, from beginners to teachers, who enjoy getting together eight times a year to hear critiques of their work and demonstrations by some of the many fine atists in our area. Besides the monthly meetings we have workshops, usually four, held during the year. These vary from portraiture, landscape paintings, paper-making, linoleum block printing, mat cutting and others. During our meetings and through our newsletter we inform our members about classes, workshops and other opportunities in the county and surrounding area. We have an open art show held in August at the Sisson Museum. Close to 100 paintings are judged and awards given. One of our goals is to encourage young people who want to pursue an education in art. We give two $500 scholarships each year, one to a high school student and one to a COS student. Our meetings are held at the Lake Shastina Community Center the 3rd Sunday of the month at 1:30 pm from February through October, except in August when our annual Art show is held.
At each of the critique meetings members vote for three paintings as Paintings of the Month. In October one of these 12 paintings is chosen as painting of the Year. The photo shows Wes Whitman with his painting "Stormy Seas" which was chosen for 2003.If you would like more information contact: Siskiyou Artists Association, PO Box 446, Yreka CA 96097.
