Mount Shasta City Dance TheaterFrom founder Krista Miller.... " The year 2005 has been one of birth. I formed the Mount Shasta City Dance Theater last winter, beginning with a bang at the Cascade Theater in Redding, CA, performing the premiere of "The Ballet Rehearsal," a musical dance theater piece choreographed and arranged to music by Vivaldi and Jelly Roll Morton. MSCDT has since grown in structure and purpose. "On December 3rd, 8pm, at the College of the Siskiyous' Kenneth W. Ford Theater main stage, we will perfom MSCDT's newest creation: "To Sea," a quintet inspired by the movement and metaphor of the river. This dance is brought to life by company members Susan Brown, Ra-el Corsini, Joan Lucas, Sandra Winslow, and myself. "To Sea" is part of a larger full length ballet entitled "H2O Manifesto," blending movement, text, and libretto to form a thought provoking theatrical comment on one of our most essential and precious resources: water. To Sea is simply the beginning of this new work. Also on the program is Dandelion Duet, an MSCDT repertory favorite, performed by Miller and Alisha Hattaway. Ms. Hattaway is an accomplished Middle Eastern dancer, and will be performing at the Benefit Reception for MSCDT, onstage after the Concert. Money raised will go toward commissioning a score for "H2O Manifesto," as well as dancers' and actors' salaries. We hope you can attend. "Joining the performance are: Redding City Ballet, Inspira-El Dance Company, Claire Lightfoot Gaillard and College of the Siskiyous Modern Dance Technique Students." kstar337@earthlink.net ![]() COS dance students. |
