John JenottJohn Jenott grew up in Scott Valley and graduated from the, now defunct, Fort Jones High School. After WWII, through the benefits of the GI Bill, he went to The Acaademy of Art in San Francisco studying advertising design and illustration. His favorite was, and still is, illustration. He enjoys drawing people, animals and doing art that tells a story. He has worked well over half a century in commercial art, mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area. His medium has consisted of everything from airbrush to bamboo pens that he fashions himself. After moving bck to Scott Valley in 1987, he began drawing historical scenes and buildings and has put together and self-published two books about different areas of Siskiyou County and is now working on a third book. All the books are researched with historical notations in them and are available at book stores. His current work is mostly in ink and wash and watercolor, although he is doing some oil wash paintings. He uses the computer for setting his type but that is the extent of it, saying there is a lack of tactile feeling in composing on it. Besides the books, John's work is on display at the Marble Rim Gallery in Fort Jones or at his studio just a couple of miles outside Fort Jones.
