Gail Domanski

Artist's Statement
As a child I drew and played with color daily. I needed to be creative. As an adult I worked for the Forest Service for 20 years, 15 of those years as a Wildland Firefighter. It was adventurous, challenging and beautiful in many ways but I missed the part of myself that was an artist. I only painted and drew occasionally during those years and I was always stunned that my talent was still there, waiting.

Finally it was the love of a child that moved me to leave and start something new. My old work did not leave enough time for my new daughter, so I began to think about art for part-time work. So where to start? I had done several murals and art works in the past starting with a rough description of a client's ideas. The results were entirely original and from my own vision based on their requests. Now, my business is commissioned art works done in rooms, indoor and outdoor focal points, furniture, and about any idea a client may have. I have found that the years of work in nature have lent a memory of light, sky, color and landscapes that naturally emerge as I paint. When I draw and paint, especially from life, I feel an intimate connection to what I see. I love what I see and feel it in my hands and body. I celebrate the spirit in it with color and form. The right path.

As my children grow and there is time available for work, I would love to do more fine art in pastel, oils, watercolor and other media. I have so much more to explore!
