Ariah Firewalker"Ariah Firewalker is one of the most versatile vocalists you will meet," --- the Village Voice, NYC. Ariah Firewalker can grace your event with trip hop, acid jazz, soul, funk, and dance music. Ariah Firewalker's original music is an eclectic blend of acid jazz, R & B, and electronica. She is based in Northern California. As a lead singer, Ariah Firewalker's smooth, soulful tones, with a raspy edge will excite you, and keep you groovin' in your downtown urban lounge chair, or on the dance floor. She performs as a duo act with her soulful baritone backup singer and keyboard player, Greg Jones and also has a quartet act to be booked consisting of drums, bass, keyboard, and vocals. The duo has a sultry, humorous interaction on stage with their own original flare. The quartet brings more of a danceable, party-like atmosphere. The vocals have been referred to as Erykah Badu-like and the original music has been said to encompass some of Morcheeba's stylings, however, they really take you on their own musical adventure of soulful/trip-hop/jazz. The duo can also easily do cover tunes for certain events that range from top 40 to the 70's disco with funk and danceable feels, however they also very much enjoy performing Ariah's original material. Ariah Firewalker has played over 200 shows and plans to double that number in 2004. She is a great opening act for big events and/or bands including environmental, and feminine based festivals, parties, and weddings. The lyrics of her soulful melodies hold a deep, introspective message, cloaked with a sensual vibe that will melt your heart and keep you thinking! Ariah Firewalker is a seasoned performer who has opened up for the Wynton Marsalis Orchestra, Phoebe Snowe, Jesse Collin Young, amongst many others. You can even hear her on SONY recordings such as jazz piano player Peggy Stern's album. She has sung for many European labels, including Scandanavian Records and is now taking the show on the road to the U.S. Ariah Firewalker's Northern California tour started when Firewalker sat down and began engineering and programming their tribal beats in her Mount Shasta studio. She decided soon after to start her own own independent music label. Soon, the cd FLOW was born. "4am" silky Rhodes sounds with live bass keep it real in the jazz feel while funky rhythms satisfy the electronic buffs. The lyrics bring the listener into Ariah's struggle with loss, and wonder. You'll love "Fly Away" with vocals like a female version of Seal, and deep, penetrating strings keeping you enraptured on the journey. Finally, "Chains" has been said to bring a little Bjork/Pj Harvey style vocalization into the mix, while keeping its mysteriously haunting ambience filled with Ariah Firewalker's original, creative writing style. FLOW is very electronic savvy, and can be heard being spun by DJ's at places like the Ibiza Cafes of Spain. Ariah's work is also featured, along with Scott Durbin, on the Art Giving Heart DVD video, produced by SAC in 2004.
